Also would it be worth buying a phone from the US?
simple answer : NO
China ones, will end up being 2G ones or fake/look a likes. (not work a likes!)
US ones are not cheaper.. they too will be locked to a network.
All iPhones are effectively the same price when you look at the costs.
Taking one on contract works out the cheapest (looking at phone cost and the mins/texts/data you get included seperately). If you don;t take an O2 iphone contract you lose out on some features.
with Orange and Vodafone getting the iphone end of year/next year.
The prices and options should get more interesting
There are countries that can supply them unlocked, but they are not cheaper.
BTW: at one time it was estimated that 30% of the US iPhones were actually in china… all hacked, as china has only just signed an agreement for the iPhone, as they are just about to get a 3G system over there. So a 3G iPhone from china… not very likely.
so again.. from china.. avoid,
anywhere else… not worth the hassle..
And if it goes wrong (and they do..) who will you take it back to ?
