my tmobile got wet….
my tmobile samsung phone got wet and I took of the battery and dried it off everything works fine but when I go to make a phone call it says no network. Does thins mean the phone is broken, or do I have to call tmobile to help me?
T-mobile warranty exchange does not cover water damage. If you have insurance then you are covered by water damage. You can file an insurance claim and get another new phone for $50. If no insurance and phone does not turn back to normal, you will have to buy a phone. Buy a used phone or refurbished phone. It is cheaper then buying a brand new phone for $200+ bucks. You can get a used or refurbished phone off of ebay or craigslist. You might be able to get a refurbished phone at your local T-mobile store.
Try these steps for water damage:
(1) IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE BATTERY AND SIM CARD. VERY VERY IMPORTANT!
(2) As soon as possible (preferably within 20-30 minutes). dissassemble the phone using Torx T6 screwdriver. (Get this off eBay or service depots, etc) Make an emergency trip to Sears/RadioShack/ACE/service depot/etc.
(3) Clean/dry as much as you can, using Q-Tips
(4) Dry the electronics components under a desk lamp on a paper towel for 24 hours.
(5) Use a blow dryer, set on warm. Blow dry the phone. Make sure your battery and sim card are out of the phone.
(6) Put phone in rice for 24 hours with battery and sim card out.
(7) Reassemble the phone
(8) Put back together
(9) Only now it’s safe to put the battery back in.
You can also leave the battery and sim out. Leave your phone out in the sun. Let it dry.
